Core Courses

North Georgia’s MBA program is designed to be completed in as little as five semesters*. That’s just 20 months of study and you’ll be on your way to achieving your career goals.

Your First Year
Once you’re accepted into the program (and you’ve completed any required Foundation Courses) you’ll participate in Team Advance, a retreat designed to help you get to know other students in your cohort, prepare for the rigors of graduate school, and begin learning leadership and teamwork techniques.

You’ll also attend a brief orientation session to tour the Cumming Graduate Center and learn about online and on-campus resources available to graduate students. You may also review a complete listing of course descriptions and degree requirements in North Georgia’s Graduate Bulletin.

In the first year you’ll take four courses in step with your cohort and you may choose your own electives:

SemesterCourses
Fall

MGMT 6600 – Leadership & Motivation (3 credit hours)
ACTG 6300 – Accounting for Decision Making (3 credit hours)

Spring

MKTG 6705 – Marketing Management (3 credit hours)
FINC 6400 – Financial Management (3 credit hours)

Summer

Electives may include courses in:

  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Economics
  • Study Abroad
  • Organizational Leadership

At least one accounting elective and at least two non-accounting electives will be offered each summer. You have the option of taking one or two electives in your first summer, allowing you to choose whether you will complete the program in 20 or 24 months.

Students desiring to sit for the CPA examination should note that we offer accounting electives each summer that allow you to meet the required study beyond the BBA level to qualify for the exam.

Your Second Year

The second year of study includes the Capstone Leadership Experience that spans the Fall and Spring semesters.

SemesterCourses
Fall

ECON 6205 – Economics & Decision Making (3 credit hours)
MGMT 6620 – Operations Management with Management Science (3 credit hours)

Spring

BUSA 6900 – Strategic Management in a Global Environment (3 credit hours)
MGMT 6610 – Information Management (2 credit hours)
BUSA 6990 – Capstone Leadership Experience (1 credit hour)

Summer

  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Economics
  • Study Abroad
  • Organizational Leadership

* Students taking two classes in the summer semester of the first year will graduate in five semesters. You may choose to take courses in the summer of the second year, graduating in six semesters. Students planning to sit for the CPA examination may need to plan for two summer semesters of study to meet CPA requirements.
