MBA courses are taught by selected faculty members from North Georgia College & State University’s Mike Cottrell School of Business who specialize in the areas of management, finance, marketing, economics, law and accounting, as well as by visiting executives. Mark Jordan, Ph.D. Mark Jordan graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Mississippi State University. He earned his Master’s in Adult Education from Troy University in 1986 and his Ph.D. in Management from Auburn University in 2001. He joined the faculty at North Georgia College & State University in 2007 after serving 26 years in the United States Air Force. His final assignment in the Air Force was at the US Air Force Academy as the Director of Leadership for the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. His research interests include teams, leadership, and behavior in organizations.
Anthony (T.J.) Gabriel, Ph.D T.J. Gabriel is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Mike Cottrell School of Business. Dr. Gabriel did his undergraduate study at Grove City College in Pennsylvania and received an MBA from Georgia Tech. He has 12 years of industry experience working for NORTEL, Cooper Industries, and C-MAC. During his career, he has worked as an industrial engineer, a new products engineer, and operations manager. In 2007, Dr. Gabriel received his Ph. D. in Management from Clemson University. Since joining North Georgia in 2004, he has enjoyed teaching courses in Business Statistics and Operations Management. Martha Merritt, CPA Martha Merritt is an assistant professor of accounting in the Mike Cottrell School of Business at North Georgia College & State University. Her teaching areas include financial accounting at the principles, intermediate and advanced levels; auditing; and fraud examination. Martha received the 2002 Accounting Educator of the Year award from the Educational Foundation of the Georgia Society of CPAs. In 2005, and again in 2007, she was named Outstanding Teacher for the year in the Department of Business Administration at NGCSU. The University recognized Martha in 2006 as the Distinguished Professor of Teaching and Learning and in 2009 as the Alumni Association Distinguished Professor. Prior to coming to North Georgia, Martha was a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen & Company in Columbia, South Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina. Bryson Payne, Ph.D. Dr. Payne earned his Ph.D.in computer science at Georgia State University, Dr Payne holds a master's degree in education and bachelor's in mathematics from the North Georgia College & State University. With over 10 years of experience teaching computer science at the university level, 20 years of experience in computer programming, and five years as a university administrator, Payne serves on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents' Administrative Committee on Information Technology and has authored and contributed to publications on digital image and video processing.
